Short version: eufy’s process differs depending on whether the camera connects through a HomeBase or works standalone over WiFi. HomeBase-connected cameras reset via a physical button and then re-sync to the HomeBase over Bluetooth; standalone models reset and re-pair to WiFi directly, similar to most other brands.

Finding the Reset Button

Most eufy cameras have a small reset button on the underside or back, often a genuine pressable button rather than a recessed pinhole, though some compact models do require a pin. Check the base or battery compartment area first — eufy places it consistently near where the mounting bracket attaches on most of its camera line.

Resetting a HomeBase-Connected Camera

Press and hold the reset button for about 10 seconds until the status light flashes or changes color, confirming the camera has reset. Open the eufy Security app, remove the old device entry if it’s still listed, then go to Add Device and follow the prompts — the app will ask you to bring the camera near the HomeBase for Bluetooth pairing before it moves the camera to its normal connection. Keep the camera within a few feet of the HomeBase until setup confirms success, then remount it.

Resetting a Standalone eufy Camera

Standalone models (most SoloCam and some E-series cameras) reset the same way — hold the button until the light changes — but re-pair directly to your home WiFi through the app rather than syncing to a HomeBase. This is closer to the Ring or Wyze process: scan the QR code, enter your WiFi password, and the camera connects on its own.

If the Problem Is the HomeBase Itself

A HomeBase with a solid red or blinking light that won’t clear, or one that all cameras have simultaneously lost connection to, may need its own reset rather than resetting individual cameras — this is a separate process (usually a pinhole button on the HomeBase itself) and is a bigger step since it can affect locally stored footage for every connected camera, so treat it as a last resort.

Straight Answers

Frequently Asked

Does resetting a eufy camera delete locally stored footage?

Footage stored on the HomeBase’s internal storage is not touched by resetting an individual camera — the HomeBase is a separate unit and holds recordings independently. A factory reset of the HomeBase itself is a different matter and can wipe its local storage, so only reset the HomeBase if you specifically intend to start over or are troubleshooting the whole system, not a single camera.

Do I need the HomeBase nearby to reset a camera?

Yes, for HomeBase-connected models — the camera needs to be within range to re-sync after a reset, since eufy’s standard cameras route through the HomeBase rather than connecting to WiFi directly. Standalone eufy models (some SoloCam and E-series cameras) connect straight to WiFi and don’t need HomeBase proximity for setup.

My eufy camera reset but won’t sync back to the HomeBase — why?

This is usually a distance or Bluetooth-pairing issue during the initial sync step, since eufy cameras pair to the HomeBase over Bluetooth before switching to their normal connection. Move the camera within a few feet of the HomeBase for the initial add-device process, then reposition it at its final mounting spot once sync is confirmed.
